Dr. Zhanyu YAO is a member of World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Expert Team on Weather Modification, expert committee member of Chinese National Forest Fireproofing Headquarters, committee member of Chinese Science and Technology Consultation Committee on Weather Modification (2005-2021), and Professor of China Meteorological Administration Weather Modification Centre (2002-now). His research interests focus on weather modification methods and techniques, field experiment, cloud and precipitation physics, satellite remote sensing and retrieval techniques, ground-based remote sensing techniques, etc. He has obtained many scientific awards include national level prizes. He has been in charge of and finished more than ten national and international level projects as PI and has published more than one hundred scientific papers.
