Henno Havenga / Senior Lecturer, North-West University, South Africa

Dr Henno Havenga is a senior lecturer at the North-West University in Potchefstroom, under the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (FNAS). He teaches general climatology, applied climatology, agricultural climatology, and remote sensing and GIS techniques.

Dr Havenga’s research examines intended and unintended anthropogenic impacts on severe convective storms using a suite of instruments, including radar, numerical modeling and mesonet networks across South Africa. He’s assisted various field campaigns locally and internationally, measuring ambient air pollution in rural settlements, chasing tornadoes with unmanned aerial vehicles, flying in thunderstorms to characterise ice and aerosol particles and installing weather stations in remote locations.
