Prof. Taha Ouarda / Professor and Chairman, Canada Research Chair in Statistical Hydro-Climatology, National Institute of Scientific Research

Taha Ouarda is a professor at the National Institute of Scientific Research and serves as Chairman of the Canada Research Chair in Statistical Hydro-Climatology.

Prof. Ouarda and his team’s research relates to the local and regional estimation of extreme hydrological events, hydrological forecasts, the design of measurement networks, the analysis of the spatial and temporal variability of hydrological variables, the modeling of climate change impacts on hydro-meteorological variables, homogenization of data series, modeling of uncertainty, risk and reliability in hydrology, analysis of water resources systems, damage estimation and the evolution of hydrological regimes. He is also interested in the development of tools to assist in the design of hydraulic structures and statistical hydrology.

Prof. Ouarda received his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering – Water Resources from Colorado State University, USA in 1991.”
