Ms. Noor Al Shamsi / Weather Forecaster, NCM

Noor AlShamsi is an atmospheric scientist with a bachelor’s degree in Meteorology from Abu Dhabi Polytechnic (completed in 2018). Noor currently works at the numerical weather prediction and research department at the National Center of Meteorology. She’s currently focusing on maintaining the operational run of the COSMO regional and local scale model at NCM along with cloud seeding research and model forecast verification. Noor is interested in the mathematics behind numerical weather prediction models and in dust-dynamics interactions in the Arabian peninsula. More recently, she identified Two previously unknown mechanisms of dust emission over the Arabian peninsula with Dr. Diana Francis. Noor aims to better understand dust and cloud dynamics to be able to represent them correctly in numerical weather prediction and climate models.
